I M thankful …

FOR THE WIFE
WHO SAYS IT'S Maggie noodles TONIGHT,
BECAUSE SHE IS HOME WITH ME,
AND NOT OUT WITH SOMEONE ELSE.

FOR THE HUSBAND WHO IS ON THE SOFA
BEING A COUCH POTATO,
BECAUSE HE IS HOME WITH ME
AND NOT out drinking AT THE Pub.

FOR THE TEENAGER
WHO IS COMPLAINING ABOUT DOING DISHES
BECAUSE IT MEANS SHE IS AT HOME,
NOT ON THE STREETS.

FOR THE TAXES I PAY
BECAUSE IT MEANS
I AM EMPLOYED.

FOR THE MESS TO CLEAN AFTER A PARTY
BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE
BEEN SURROUNDED BY FRIENDS.

FOR THE CLOTHES THAT FIT A LITTLE TOO SNUG
BECAUSE IT MEANSI HAVE ENOUGH TO EAT.

FOR MY SHADOW THAT WATCHES ME WORK
BECAUSE IT MEANS
I AM OUT IN THE SUNSHINE

FOR the floor that needs sweeping,
WINDOWS THAT NEED CLEANING,
AND toilets THAT NEED FIXING
BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE A HOME.

FOR ALL THE COMPLAINING
I HEAR ABOUT THE GOVERNMENT
BECAUSE IT MEANS
WE HAVE FREEDOM OF SPEECH..

FOR THE PARKING SPOT
I FIND AT THE FAR END OF THE PARKING LOT
BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM CAPABLE OF WALKING
AND I HAVE BEEN BLESSED WITH TRANSPORTATION.

FOR MY airconditioning BILLs
BECAUSE IT MEANS
I have a home to sleep in

FOR THE person
BEHIND ME IN CHURCH WHO SINGS OFF KEY
BECAUSE IT MEANS
I CAN HEAR.

FOR THE PILE OF LAUNDRY AND IRONING
BECAUSE IT MEANS
I HAVE CLOTHES TO WEAR.

FOR WEARINESS AND ACHING MUSCLES
AT THE END OF THE DAYBE
CAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE BEEN
CAPABLE OF WORKING HARD.

FOR THE ALARM THAT GOES OFF
IN THE EARLY MORNING HOURS
BECAUSE IT MEANS I’m ALIVE.

AND FINALLY,
FOR TOO MUCH E-MAIL
BECAUSE
IT MEANS I HAVE
FRIENDS WHO ARE THINKING OF ME.

This is a poem on thanksgiving in case you are lazy and decide to just scroll all the way down here. I think it is beautiful because sometimes in life, we (me included) are so caught up with complaining and grumbling that we forget to be thankful for the things around us.

This Christmas season, let's spend a day or 2 to think back about the year 2006, and the previous years and thank God for all the blessings He has given us. For non-believers, you can thank whoever you're worshiping too. The interesting thing to note is that as you're looking back, think about the times when bad things happened. You'll realised that on hindsight, the thing wasn't as bad as you made out to be and sometimes it might even be a blessing in disguise! Or it might also have taught you valuable lessons. Go try!

I am Thankful...

For the homework and examinations I have
Because it means i can go to school and
Not work in the farm all day.

For the times my mother has nagged me to do housework
Because it means she is still alive!
