Finally i'm back from mi 7 days of field camp and i'm feeling damn tired. Other pple might say tt field camp is so and so or tiring or wad but i prefer to say tt field camp is extremely extremely memorable. Maybe both in a good way and a bad way. To start things, let's juz say tt it rained 5 days out of 7 days. The first night tt we stayed in the rubber plantation was quite bad. It drizzled a little at night and i could feel the water trickling down from mi basha top.
Anywae a basha is something like a tent. It comprises of 2 groundsheets, wif 1 of them acting as the roof for the tent. The thing is, the whole damn basha is damn small and space is severely limited, esp the height. Imagine from a lying down position, u slowly sit up and when ur body hit the 45 degrees mark ( meaning u're not in a full sitting position ). ur head is already touching the basha, tt's how cramp it was...absolutely hated it.Yar i was saying the rain, it was leaking thru mi basha and soon i was wet lar...
And on the 2nd day, it rained again and this time veh veh heavily. The drainage system tt we dug up wasn't veh effective, it was holding water instead of draining them. Anywae i also wanted to say tt digging is a torture man...relly...digging SUCKS. And it rained so heavily on the second day tt we had to have lunch in our own tent and we were all dripping wet wif water. And i tot that it was going to be the most memorable day of field camp since it rained for like 2 hours. The ground all around became shitty as in relly like shit. The mud all sticks to our boots and it's juz super super soft and shitty man!! yuck.
Oh yea we learned quite some stuff there but i dun wanna elaborate on those stuff unless i find them interesting enough. So on the third day, we marched to oil palm, which is an oil palm plantation. The weather was perfect and we had a superb night. Juz tt i seem to be veh paranoid about army stuff. It's like i suddenly woke up in the middle of the night hearing 1 of the sergeants shouting to us to get into proning position in our basha. Ok proning position is sth like lying down juz tt u lie on ur stomach and u put ur hand above ur neck. So i immediately tried to make mi buddy wake up but he was in such deep slumber tt i juz gave up. I was in tt position for like 15min when i got too tired and turned around and fell asleep. It was when i woke up in the morning when i realised tt the sergeants did not shout but a part of mi mind created it so close to reality tt i believed it totally.
On the 4th day, it was our supposed technical break, where we will take a break from all the trainings and lessons and rest in our tent in the afternoon...but alas...it was all destroyed by the rain!! This time, it rained like it nv rained b4 and it not only clogged our drainage system, it was so bad tt the muddy rain water was practically gushing into mi basha man...it was so bad tt the commanders evacuated us into their big command tent. Even then, the rain was still veh bad and finally, they evacuated us by a big truck to a nearby area which consists of a few old shops. There we had lunch. Oh yar befor i forget, for this whole field camp, we are assigned to combat rations. Surprisingly, they're all damn good even though they come in fixed packets and the menu includes, tomato chiken bolognaise, satay pasta, yellow curry rice, chicken briyani and ithe best thing is tt it comes wif desserts! The desserts are fantastic i tell u...yummy although i knoe zx would beg to differ..
So at the old shops, we had fresh rations!! Which is hot food packed from the bmt cookhouse. FElt great to eat something hot after so long man...we stayed at tt area until dinner and then we were forced to go back to tt campsite to sleep there. It was quite an ok sleep although our stuff were full of mud. And again i had a nightmare. This time i dreamt tt sergeants required us to fall in in our sbo, helmet and rifle. And i again tried to wake mi buddy up but i tynk he slept too well. In the end, i also went back to sleep but while waking him up i tynk i accidentally woke up pple frrom mi neighbour basha and they were quite stunned and was wondering if relly need to fall in lar...hai..i'm becoming a psycho..
So we learn more bout movement drills on the 5th day . And we got punished veh veh severely by our commanding officer todae. Must relly thank those inconsiderate and idiotic guys man. They shit outside the field toilet and din even bother to cover up..Bravo man…The best thing was, they din even haf the guts to admit it. So we did 20 pushups followed by 60 rifle jumping jacks, then enduring in the pushup position while they scold us before doing more pushups jumping jacks and situps again…all in our sbo, helmet and rifle..rocks…And all these punishment, we did it by the toilet. And still, no one wanted to admit it. In the end, we had to have lunch by the toilet man..I heard tt one of the person who shit there and din own up was pointed out by another guy who sawsw the act and when probed, tt idiot actually said tt he saw someone shit there, so he went to shit where the person shit. So since the person b4 him din cover up, he also din cover up and so he’s not at fault. Total bullshit man. And this idiot has no integrity wadsoever…
Anyway at night we marched off to our third and last campsite, Reclaimed land...There we slept wif only our groundsheets and so it was quite nice...facing all the stars until it started to rain like mad at 3am..it relly rained so badly till the commanders gathered us in their tent again to wait for the rain to subside. We were all like squashed and barely had any space. Worse still it's in the middle of the night and everyone is tired like anything lar...Was in the same tentage as zixu and we started to tok and fantasise and plan for saturday's activities. Initially wanted a full body massage and lunch and dinner and college day but i guess in the end, we'll only be going for the dinner...haha...and it was quite nice, takes ur mind of the field camp and the dumb rain and the coldness...after an hour plus, it was still raining heavily but this time, the commanders asked us to go back to our area and try to catch some sleep. We were all drenched...totally...but no choice, must sleep in the rain, too tired..
And the next day, or rather about an hour later, we woke up, had breakfast and proceeded to dig our shellscrape. It’s shaped like a coffin and the purpose of digging it is to have a suitable position to hide while having a chance to fire off at our enemies. I took bout 4 hours to dig mi shellscrape and was damn tired after tt. Everybody had to dig their own shellscrape and basically it’s about knee level deep. Really..like I said, digging is no joke man. We dun dig with those long chankul tt u pple see, but a short stick and blunt blade called the entrenching tools( ET tools). And after digging, we had to dig our firetrench, which is chest level deep. Luckily this one we dug as a section of about 10 pple…Mi section dug it so well and even decorated the whole firetrench by camouflaging it wif plants and trees so well that mi section commander was very impressed. He kept saying, ‘ I’ve not seen or made anything this fantastic before.’ And of course he seemed proud of us since he’s our in charge. Our commanding officer was also so impressed that he gathered the whole company to show them our marvelous firetrench..was quite proud of mi section since we completed it together.
That night, we slept in our coffins. Quite scary considering tt we juz had our powder bath before sleeping. Relly looks zombie-ish man…haha but was surprisingly quite comfortable. On the last day, we went through our battle inoculation course which is like a simulation of a real battlefield and we’re required to stay low by crawling under the live firing of the machine gun and under obstacles…was damn tired and shagged out man…
Okok enough bout army stuff..went out wif zixu for prata this afternoon before meeting up wif jasmine and binh for dinner together at seoul garden. Was literally stuffing myself wif food although mi throat is like shit man. The throat infection was so bad and I had so much phlegm tt I spent 20min at home clearing the existing phlegm. It was so solid and yellowish and I have never in mi whole life had so much phlegm in mi man…Was nice seeing them again and we sharing our stories but somehow I feel tt they’re not relly interested bout hearing bout mi life anymore. Juz a feeling. But well, mayb coz mi life revolves too much round the dumb army man…damn army talk.
Met up with Janie for kingdom of Heaven juz now and it’s relly not a great show lar. Not for girls especially and the plot at the end was quite confusing. I guess army has relly made mi dumber. Luckily I used movie money…otherwise I’d haf cried coz tt show is not worth $9.50 man…Oh well..next time I’ll watch out before watching any movies. Waste of mi precious time. Ok tt’s it for now…
